A program that aimed to create career pathways for emerging creatives, along with providing mentoring, skills and career development across the arts has been delivered to more than 230 participants over an 18-month period.
Facilitated by Cairns Regional Council, the Flame.Roadtrip was designed to create a regional network of Far North Queensland's emerging artists to connect, gain and share knowledge, and access career development opportunities in the arts in five disciplines – screen, design, visual arts, music, and stage (performing arts).
In late 2019, Council secured funding from Arts Queensland's Regional Arts Services Network to deliver an extension of the existing Flame.Arts programs through the Flame.Roadtrip.
Working in partnership with several nearby local government authorities – Cassowary Coast Regional Council, Tablelands Regional Council, Etheridge and Douglas Shire Councils – the Flame.Roadtrip program was delivered to a broader participate base.
Although several planned activities were disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, the Roadtrip project still achieved significant outcomes as programs adapted so they could be delivered online.
