QCS phases out cash in mail for prisoners

From July 1 prisoners in Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) facilities will no longer be able to receive cash in the mail.

Family members and friends sending money to prisoners will need to use Secure Payments Services (SPS) or send a money order after that date.

SPS is an electronic money transfer service.

To use the service, sign up at secure-payment-services.com.au

See a step-by-step instruction on how to sign up for SPS here.

Any cash payments for prisoners received in the mail after (date) will be returned to the sender.

If QCS cannot identify the person who sent the money, the funds will be held for the prisoner until they are released.

If you have questions about transferring money to a prisoner, contact the correctional centre or watch this video.
