- Queensland Rail last night reached an in-principle deal with unions on three of the six existing Enterprise Agreements after an intensive bargaining process facilitated by the Fair Work Commission since May.
- However, the in-principle agreement comes with some conditions that are being worked through.
- The reduced South East Queensland (SEQ) rail timetable will continue due to a backlog of rollingstock maintenance and these ongoing negotiations.
Queensland Rail has reached in-principle agreement with unions on three out of the six existing Enterprise Agreements, delivering a fair and reasonable deal for rail workers.
These proposed replacement agreements, facilitated by the Fair Work Commission, reflect our commitment to investing in our people so we can build a better rail network for Queensland.
The reduced SEQ rail timetable will continue due to a backlog of rollingstock maintenance, ongoing protected industrial action and outstanding negotiations across the remaining agreements.
While Queensland Rail recognises this is positive progress, the in-principle agreement comes with conditions that are subject to further negotiations.
Therefore, final agreement cannot be confirmed until these conditions are either satisfied or waived.
The three in-principle agreements reached are:
• Administrative, Professional and Technical (ASPT) Enterprise Agreement
• Travel and Tourism and Other Employees Enterprise Agreement
• Station Operations Enterprise Agreement
Key conditions across the replacement agreements include:
• 8 per cent wage increase over three years plus an additional cost of living relief payment (up to 2.5 per cent over three years), in line with the Queensland Government-Owned Corporations Wages Policy
• Strategic Delivery Allowance - an added incentive to deliver major projects for Queensland
• Backpay from 1 June 2026.
The three in-principle agreements cover almost 3,500 employees.
We continue to negotiate with unions regarding the remaining Enterprise Agreements to ensure a deal is made soon.
The final offer remains subject to Queensland Rail Board and government approvals.
