Ramdin, Wadephul Discuss Joint Cooperation Paths

OAS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, and the Foreign Minister of Germany, Johann Wadephul, met today to explore ways to deepen the existing collaboration between the hemispheric institution and the European country, based in shared values, a rules-based international order, and common interests across the four pillars of the Organization's work: democracy, human rights, development, and security.

Germany has been a Permanent Observer to the OAS since 1972 and has since been a key partner in promoting democracy and defending human rights in the Americas. More recently, Germany has contributed to a wide range of OAS initiatives, particularly in institutional strengthening in Haiti, peacebuilding missions, and efforts to support development and combat corruption. It is also one of the leading contributors to the OAS Mission to Support the Peace Process (MAPP) in Colombia.
