The Albanese Government is investing in the future of one of the nation's most iconic beaches with new funding to revitalise Cottesloe.
The Cottesloe Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Project will repurpose the existing car park into a plaza with open terraces for community events.
It will improve accessibility by widening footpaths and improving accessibility from Marine Parade Road to the beach.
To improve and encourage active transport, local roads and intersections will be remodelled to create a thoroughfare for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles to safely share.
The new foreshore will be a seamless connection to local businesses, creating a precinct where visitors can enjoy the beach and drop by local restaurants and cafes.
The project is supported by $10 million from the Albanese Government's urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (uPPP) alongside a $5 million investment from the Town of Cottesloe.
The Town of Cottesloe estimates revitalisation of the foreshore will create 37 ongoing jobs, predominantly in the surrounding retail shops, restaurants and cafes, and accommodation. It will also support an additional 32 jobs during construction.
The uPPP delivers investment for local projects designed by local communities, improving liveability and revitalising Australian suburbs.
