We're installing a new Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system at Richmond Recreation Centre. The current system will be removed and replaced with a new electric system to improve temperature control in the main gym and group exercise studio.
How long will it take?
We expect this installation to take approximately 10 days. We will be closing some areas of Richmond Recreation Centre from Monday 31 August and expect to restore all services on Thursday 10 September.
How will I be affected?
Gym
The main gym at Richmond Recreation Centre will be closed for four days from Monday 31 August, reopening on Friday 4 September.
All Gym access, classes and appointments during this time will be cancelled.
Group Exercise classes
The Group Exercise Studio will be closed from Monday 31 August, reopening on Thursday 10 September. All group exercise classes held in the Group Exercise Studio will be cancelled during the closure period.
Please visit our timetable to view class options at Collingwood Leisure Centre or Fitzroy Swimming Pool while the works take place.
Group exercise classes are expected to return to Richmond Recreation Centre on Thursday 10 September.
Griffiths Street entry
The Griffiths Street entry, including the dry changerooms, will be closed on Tuesday 1 September as the new HVAC unit is being lifted into place by crane.
Spin Room
The Spin Room will be closed on Tuesday 1 September and all classes will be cancelled.
Aquatic areas and Studio
All Aquatic areas, inclusive of the 50m pool, toddler pool, sauna, spa and steam room will be open during the works.
There will be no impact to our Learn to Swim, Aqua and Deep Water Running classes which will run as usual.
The Studio gym will be unaffected and all Move for Life and Empower and Empower plus classes will take place as usual.
I'm a member, what are my options during the closure?
1. Use alternative facilities
As a member, you can access Collingwood Leisure Centre and Fitzroy Swimming Pool during this period.
2. Suspend your membership
If you would prefer to pause your membership during this time, you can suspend it through our client portal. This suspension will not affect your current suspension entitlements.
