Rising traineeships and surge in grants growing our workforce

Having a skilled workforce is key to growing the Territory and achieving a $40 billion economy by 2030.

Apprentice and Trainee numbers are officially at a 10 year high right across the Northern Territory, with more than 4000 currently employed in variety of industries and trades.

Apprentices and trainees are crucial to the Northern Territory workforce, and the Territory Labor Government is supporting their career journey through the $20million User Choice Funding Program.

The User Choice Funding Program provides financial grants to Registered Training Organisations (RTO) to help deliver training and qualifications for apprenticeships and traineeships across the Territory, including:

certificate II and III qualifications for new employeescertificate IV or diploma for employees commencing employment or progressing from a lower level qualificationone progression level for a student - for example, from certificate II to III, or certificate III to IV.

Eligible RTOs can apply for grants, with funding considered on a case-by-case basis. Incentives are being made for training which is delivered in regional and remote locations.
