Services Australia Podcast: Deeming and revaluation of financial assets

The coronavirus pandemic has caused some big fluctuations on the Australian and overseas share markets. With uncertain dividends, historically low bank interest rates, and potential impacts on rental returns, older Australian investors are worried about their sources of income.

In this podcast, Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen speaks with Justin Bott from the Financial Information Service about options for pensioners in a volatile market.

"People often talk to me about how their pensions are based on old investment values. We cover some of the work we've done to help pensioners on this front," Hank said.

"Justin and I will also look in a bit more detail at other issues like gifting, deeming and the assessment of investment properties if there's a pause on rent."

This is the third in a series of podcasts to help people work their way through some of the choices that have come up from the coronavirus pandemic.
