The Governing Board of Environment Protection Authority Victoria today announces Dr Cathy Wilkinson is stepping down from the role as the Authority's Chief Executive Officer, at the end of this week.
Dr Wilkinson became EPA's CEO in September 2018 and has led the organisation admirably during a period of unprecedented challenges and transformation.
She has made a considerable contribution to EPA during her time as CEO. Her achievements include the development of new legislation designed to better protect the environment and has provided a stronger regulatory posture. She has overseen an increase in resources to better tackle waste crime, improved air quality monitoring through EPA's AirWatch website, provided better guidance and engagement with industry, established programs to support local communities such as the OPLE program and establishment of dedicated metropolitan offices in Melbourne's west and north.
Dr Wilkinson brought EPA and its people through the enormous challenges of a COVID-19 world and was able to continue to build an organisational culture of resilience and resourcefulness. Her strong commitment and passion for environmental protection and to preventing harm from pollution and waste has been critical to establishing strong foundations for commencement of EPA's new legislation in mid-2021.
EPA is proud to announce, Dr Wilkinson has been appointed an Adjunct Associate Professor with Monash University at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, continuing to collaborate on projects that enable lasting sustainability transitions and benefits to the environment.
The EPA Governing Board thanks Dr Wilkinson for her inspired leadership of EPA and wishes her well in all her future endeavours.
Mr Tim Eaton, EPA's current Executive Director, Regulatory Standards, Assessments & Permissioning will act as CEO until a new appointment is made.
