Taskforce Guardian Helps Nab Stolen Vehicle Suspect in Logan

Taskforce Guardian alongside Logan police have charged 16 people on 66 offences, including 15 young people on 61 charges, during a 9-day deployment to the Logan area.

From January 4 to January 12, Taskforce Guardian officers and expert Youth Justice workers, worked alongside local police to bolster efforts in tackling youth offending and enhancing community safety in Logan.

The deployment included conducting proactive patrols, bail compliance checks, assisting with investigations and engaging with the community to ensure police activity suited the needs of each area.

On January 8, Taskforce Guardian officers assisted with the arrest of three boys, who were apprehended in a stolen car along the Pacific Motorway at Yatala.

Taskforce Guardian were able to track down the vehicle with the assistance of local police and Polair.

The three boys, two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old, were charged with over 20 offences and will face court this month.

Detective Acting Inspector Kent Ellis said the collaborative efforts of Logan officers bolstered by Taskforce Guardian were instrumental in quickly apprehending the group.

"I want to commend the collaborative effort of the Taskforce, Logan police and Polair for swiftly responding, and together ensuring the safety of the community as the three occupants were taken into custody," he said.

"The Taskforce is a valuable tool in reinforcing our response to youth crime, and it is reassuring that they can be utilised state-wide as needs arise.

"We thank the community for continuing to provide us information that informs investigations, and we look forward to continuing to work around the clock to support community safety."
