Tidy Towns Announces Sustainable Community Award Winners

  • Pingelly named State Winner of WA Tidy Towns Awards
  • Awards recognise sustainability efforts in regional communities
  • Pingelly to represent WA at National Tidy Town Awards

Western Australia's regional communities have been recognised at the 2023 Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards - with Pingelly taking out the overall prize and being named State Winner.

Now in its 54th year, the event acknowledges sustainable, litter-free communities by celebrating initiatives such as litter prevention, environmental education, preserving heritage, community action, and youth leadership.

The awards are funded by the State Government through the Waste Authority, and supported by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.

Pingelly, which also won the event's 'Young Legends' and 'Heritage and Culture' awards, was crowned State Winner on the back of projects that involved collaboration with local residents and had a visible impact throughout the community.

As a result, Pingelly will now represent WA at the National Tidy Town Awards.

"The passion and drive of regional Western Australians is what keeps our communities unique and sustainable.

"I congratulate all entrants, finalists, and winners on setting such an inspirational example.

"For more than 50 years, these awards have showcased the important collaboration taking place throughout our State.
