The UNSW Health Translation Hub has received Industry Choice Award at the 2026 National Infrastructure Awards.
One of UNSW Sydney's newest buildings has been recognised with the Industry Choice Award at the 2026 National Infrastructure Awards in Melbourne last night. The award reinforces the UNSW Health Translation Hub's (HTH) position as a leading model for integrated healthcare, research and education.
Delivered in partnership with Plenary Group, the $600 million HTH is a cornerstone of the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct . It enables seamless integration between the University and local hospitals, helping to transform how research is translated into patient care.
Spanning 35,600 square metres, the Hub brings together students, clinicians, researchers, industry and the community in a shared space designed to support collaboration and improve patient outcomes.
UNSW Pro Vice-Chancellor of Precincts Professor Zoe Terpening said the award reflected the strong partnership behind the project and the immediate benefits the HTH has provided the community.
"Winning the Industry Choice Award is incredibly meaningful because it comes directly from our peers across the infrastructure sector, including public and live voting on the night," Prof. Terpening said.
"It's a real vote of confidence in what we've created together, and I'm so proud of the entire team who brought this vision to life.
"The UNSW Health Translation Hub shows what's possible when universities, industry, community and healthcare partners work side by side to improve patient care and train the next generation of health professionals."
Plenary CEO Paul Crowe said, "This award is a resounding acknowledgement from our peers of everything UNSW Health Translation Hub stands for - a genuine partnership between Plenary and the higher education sector that has culminated in tangible community benefits while delivering exemplar design outcomes, local employment and social procurement opportunities."
The National Infrastructure Awards, run by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia , recognise excellence in project delivery and collaboration across the sector.
Redefining health through collaboration
The UNSW Health Translation Hub is the first facility of its kind in Australia, enabling students to work alongside clinicians and researchers on real-world projects across disciplines including medicine, allied health, population health and biomedical engineering.
Research at the Hub focuses on areas including precision and personalised medicine, advanced therapeutics, new models of care, health systems, mental health, ageing and cancer.
It's a real vote of confidence in what we've created together, and I'm so proud of the entire team who brought this vision to life.
The Hub is located adjacent to the Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building and connected to UNSW's Kensington campus.
UNSW occupies around two-thirds of the building under an initial 20-year agreement, with co-location alongside partners including the Minderoo Children's Comprehensive Cancer Centre and The George Institute for Global Health. The remaining space, led by Plenary, is open to industry partners, creating opportunities for organisations to work alongside the University and within the broader hospital precinct.
The building is also setting new benchmarks in sustainability, targeting a six-star Green Star Buildings rating, net zero carbon emissions and full electrification powered by 100% renewable energy.
Completed in July 2025 and officially opened in November 2025, the Hub is already supporting new approaches to care and collaborative research that directly benefit patients and communities.
