UPDATE #2 - Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie - Reduced threat

Tropical Cyclone Ellie has been downgraded to a tropical low moving 140km south east of Wadeye.

Today and over the weekend Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie is expected to move southwards through the Gregory and Tanami districts before moving over the Kimberley in Western Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for people in Daly, Tiwi, Gregory and parts of Arnhem, Carpentaria, Tanami and Barkly districts.

Heavy Rainfall and damaging winds are expected and residents are urged to prepare.

Northern Territory Emergency Services are urging everyone in the affected areas to stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways and not to drive into floodwaters. Remember; if it's flooded, forget it.
