The first words in Racing Minister Madeleine Ogilvie's press release about the north west track fiasco should have been "I am sorry."
This project has been botched in the most unfair way imaginable. Harness and greyhound trainers and owners have been seriously disadvantaged. Some or considering their future in the industry.
The key question now is 'when'.
When will this project be completed? Both the greyhound and harness clubs need home and the TasRacing decision to abandon the Devonport Showgrounds has left them homeless.
The Minister should set a date for the completion to give certainty to participants and a directive to TasRacing.
