The funding sustained a vital humanitarian lifeline at a time when commercial air services remained severely limited, enabling UNHAS to connect humanitarian responders with hard-to-reach communities and facilitate the safe and reliable movement of personnel and essential relief cargo across Yemen.
Throughout the funding period, UNHAS also provided critical security and medical evacuation services, helping humanitarian organizations operate in one of the world's most challenging humanitarian environments.
Despite increasing operational constraints, UNHAS operated 716 flights, transporting approximately 6,430 passengers from 110 humanitarian organizations and institutions, including United Nations agencies, national and international NGOs, and diplomatic missions. By connecting humanitarian hubs and enabling frontline responders to reach affected populations, UNHAS played a vital role in sustaining humanitarian operations across the country.
UNHAS remains indispensable in Yemen, where operational constraints, security challenges and limited transportation options continue to affect humanitarian access. Through its support to UNHAS, the European Union helped humanitarian organizations maintain a vital operational presence across Yemen and continue delivering assistance to people affected by conflict, displacement and economic hardship.
