WMO photo competition attracts record entries

The much-acclaimed WMO calendar competition has attracted record entries, with more than 1 500 entries from all around the world - and from a greater range of countries than ever before.

The selection of photographs - many of them amazing - has been narrowed down to 80 images. They all demonstrate the beauty and power of our weather, the need to protect and preserve our water resources, and the impacts of climate and environmental change.

WMO is now asking its followers on social media to help us choose the winning photos by voting for your favourites on Facebook, Instagram and/or on Flickr: https://bit.ly/3E3LzWk

The WMO jury (which consists of photographers, meteorologists, scientists and communication experts) will make the final decision on the 13 photos based on a combination of your votes, technical and artistic flair, as well as geographical balance.

The winning photographs will feature in the WMO 2023 Calendar and will be showcased on WMO's social media channels and website, feature prominently in our World Meteorological Day 2023 celebrations, as well as other outreach materials.

The United Nations regularly features these photos in their communication products, online and on social media.

Voting beings today and will end on 25 October!
