Yoghurt Shop recalls 190G 'Caramel Crumble' in SA & NT

The Yoghurt Shop

Family-owned South Australia business, Purely Natural Yoghurt – trading as The Yoghurt Shop - has announced a recall of its 190g Caramel Crumble Yoghurt cups, which have been distributed across South Australia and Northern Territory, with a best before date of January 23, 2023.

The recall is due to microbial (E.coli) contamination. Food products contaminated with E.coli may cause illness if consumed. Consumers should not eat this product and any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

General Manager Brandon Reynolds said the small amount of contamination was picked up by the company's internal daily food safety management system on Monday, December 19 at their production facility in Adelaide and the company had then made the voluntary notification to Food Standards Australia New Zealand and SA Health.

"In 20 years of operating our company this is the first time we have ever had a contamination issue and clearly while this is far from ideal, we are pleased that our internal safety monitoring picked it up as quickly as it did," he said.

The product has been available for sale at Coles in SA and NT, IGA in SA and NT, and OTR (On The Run) locations in SA.

Mr Reynolds said 421 cartons of the product (2526 individual cups) may have been on the shelves of the identified outlets.

"Working with our retail partners, we will coordinate the removal of stock from shelves as quickly as possible and urge consumers not to eat the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund." he said.
