Yorkeys Knob & Clifton Beach Residents to Face Low Water Pressure

Residents from Yorkeys Knob north to Clifton Beach (including Kewarra and Trinity Beaches) may experience a reduction in water pressure from this evening, due to a water leak at the University Reservoir.

Council is currently draining the 20-mega litre reservoir in Smithfield, which helps to provide water and maintain adequate pressure to the northern beaches.

Residents are advised that they could continue to experience possible reductions in water pressure for at least a week, especially during peak times.

Once the reservoir is drained, which is expected to take two days, and the site is safe, Council will conduct an assessment of the leak to determine what actions can be undertaken.

For public safety, Council has also closed access to the mountain bike tracks around the reservoir, including WC XC Vemas, WC XC Whiskers O'Flaherty, WC XC Myndas, and WC XC Moranas tracks.
