Forbes and Parkes Councils will receive close to $6.5 million to fix local roads through funding delivered from the Australian and New South Wales Liberal and Nationals Governments.
The Federal Government has committed $191 million to build on the NSW Government's Fixing Local Roads program.
Riverina MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Australian Government's funding injection was about generating jobs, encouraging spending and stimulating local economies.
"The upkeep of local roads is vital for our smaller regional and rural communities," Mr McCormack said.
"Local Governments from across the electorate have provided us with a wishlist of projects and we are delivering on funding for these important works which will be a timely boost for local jobs and a boon for regional road users.
"This is all about getting people where they need to go sooner and safer.
"This funding injection will see $382 million of joint funding allocated to shovel-ready projects able to start in the next 12 months and create thousands of jobs.
NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the NSW Government was also accelerating its funding for the program to get more projects to seal, maintain and repair local roads under way faster.
"We're not just putting our foot down in terms of delivering this package - we're turbocharging it to ensure we create jobs and create better journeys on the roads that really matter to local communities," Mr Toole said.
"This is money for small projects that make a big difference in people's everyday lives in regional NSW."
NSW Upper House MP Sam Farraway, said that this further funding showed the NSW and Federal Coalition Government's ongoing commitment to regional road infrastructure.
"We are serious about saving lives on local roads and making travel across our regional areas as safe and smooth as is possible, that is why we have put this funding on the table to fast-track projects that are ready to go," Mr Farraway said.
"As regional MPs we share the roads with our constituents on a daily basis, we see the pot holes and erosion, we understand the complaints that are often raised with our offices. This is the NSW Government working with our Federal colleagues in delivering record road infrastructure investment across the Parkes and Forbes region.
"This extra boost in funding is also vitally important to our communities in what has been a difficult period for all, increasing job opportunities and reducing the financial burden on Councils and ratepayers, leaving more money to be spent elsewhere in the local economy."
The Federal and NSW Governments will deliver $32,261,135 towards projects across the Riverina electorate.
Details for specific projects will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
This vital funding stream is part of a wider $1.5 billion Federal Government infrastructure package which will provide an immediate injection into the economy and bring jobs back online to help stem the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This funding will deliver critical infrastructure projects right across the country to help keep construction businesses running and people in jobs," Mr McCormack said.
"$1 billion of this Federal Government package will fund projects which can get under way now and over the next six months, to give an immediate boost to the economy and local jobs - right at the time we need it.
"We will work together with the states and territories to deliver these job-creating priority projects, building on our unprecedented co-operation to date through the National Cabinet of States and Territories.
"This is part of our $100 billion, 10-year infrastructure pipeline, which is laying the foundations of a financial bridge to recovery on the other side of the COVID-19 crisis."
