6th Australia-China High Level Dialogue

Today, the sixth annual Australia-China High Level Dialogue will be held in Sydney.

Co-chaired by former Prime Minister, the Hon John Howard OM AC, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Honorary President of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, Li Zhaoxing, the Dialogue will be attended by senior Australian and Chinese representatives from across government, business, academia and the arts.

Mr Howard said he was delighted to chair the Australia-China High Level Dialogue for a third time.

"The Dialogue will help strengthen partnerships and friendships, maintain trust, and develop deeper understanding between Australia and China," Mr Howard said.

"Today's Dialogue allows us to draw on the insights and expertise of a wide range of delegates who can help shape the future direction of this important bilateral relationship. It is a valuable forum for each country to strengthen our many links and explore the untapped potential."

The Dialogue will explore a wide range of issues central to our interests, including trade and investment opportunities, regional cooperation and strengthening our enduring community connections.

The Dialogue has bipartisan support, with former Labor Foreign Minister, the Hon Stephen Smith, acting as a delegate and speaker.
