Activities Associated Direction 8, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Activities—Associated Direction No 7) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Activities--Associated Direction No 8) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on Thursday 12 August 2021 and South Australia will be under Level 1 restrictions, with some additional restrictions.

The following restrictions apply:

Density Requirements

  • Indoor and Outdoor venues where people are seated – 3 people per 4 square metres
  • Indoor or Outdoor venues where there is a mix of people who are seated and standing - 1 person per 2 square metres
  • Seated food and consumption of food and beverages at all hospitality venues.
  • Indoor Fitness/Sporting Facility- 1 person per 4 square metres

Note: Staff and staff areas are not included in calculations

Where a venue has seated food and beverage consumption and takeaway options, the business operators should use its best endeavours to ensure such customers are separated from those who are dining.

Gathering Provisions

The following gathering provisions apply:

  • Private Event (wedding, funeral, party) at any place - 50 people. If at residential premises 10 people only, including the residents.
  • Private Gathering/Event at licensed premises - the capacity is determined by the operating model of the licensee.
  • Private Residence- Limit of 10 people (including people who ordinarily reside at premises).

Note: Where the number of people who live at the residence exceeds 10 they are permitted. For example where 12 people live at house.

Sport

The following restrictions apply:

  • Participants: 1 person per 4 square metres for indoor sports, 1 person per 2 sqm for outdoor sports.
  • Spectators:
    • at indoor sport are permitted - 1 person per 4 square metres (masks required)
    • at outdoor sports are permitted – 1 person per 2 square metres.

Masks

Masks must be worn in the following locations:

  • passenger transport services
  • shared indoor public places (not at indoor fitness facilities when undertaking exercise)
  • personal care services
  • health care services
  • high risk settings

Note- A mask is not required if the person is eating or drinking. A mask can be removed by a customer in personal care services or health care services when they are receiving the service if the mask would reasonably interfere with the provision of the service. Members of a bridal party can remove a mask during the wedding ceremony and photographs regardless of the venue.

Singing- a person may sing indoors at non-residential premises (choirs, karaoke, congregations) if they are wearing a mask (covering mouth and nose). Masks while singing is not required if singing is for the purposes of education, an individual lesson, the person is performing (including backup singers).

Dancing- is permitted unless it is a licenced premises except for a bridal party at a wedding ceremony or reception or at a fitness dance studio where alcohol is not served.

Shisha/Hookah is not permitted.

Contact tracing systems, COVID Safe Plans, COVID Marshals, QR Codes and Physical

Distancing still apply.
