Advancing Integrated Weed Management - Chaff lining

Integrated weed management (IWM) is crucial to reducing the impact of weeds on farm profitability in Northern NSW.

As part of the Grains Research and Development Corporation project LLS1810-001SAX, North West Local Land Services have been working with farmers to validate techniques that give the best impact on reducing weed pressure.

Working with farmers from Deniliquin to Goondiwindi in this project, one of the key techniques of interest is chaff lining which helps concentrate the weed seeds into one location for more effective breakdown and control. Chaff lining is an important IWM strategy and in the management of herbicide resistant weeds.
