The Hub for Global Sustainability of the University of Barcelona has organized the First Scientific Conference for the Creation of Sustainable Social Scenarios . It will take place on 19 May in the Aula Magna at the Historic Building, and will allow the University teaching and research staff, including the trainee research staff, to exchange collaborative research strategies for tackling the climate emergency and help ensuring a sustainable future.
The interdisciplinary meeting also represents an opportunity for doctoral students, as it will allow them to share ideas and reflections with prestigious speakers, such as Pep Canadell, executive director of the Global Carbon Project and the chief research scientist at the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Centre; Albert Tarancón, ICREA professor at the Institute for Energy Research of Catalonia (IREC), and Maria Luísa Lima, professor of Social Psychology and co-coordinator of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy at the University of Lisbon.
In addition to the Global Sustainability Hub, the following collaborate on this initiative, which is supported by the UB's Office of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and the Polis Research Centre in Art, Cities, Society and Sustainability, the research institutes for Biomedicine (IBUB), in Education (IRE), in Nutrition and Food Safety (INSA), Complex Systems (UBICS), in Biodiversity (IRBio) and in Applied Economics (IREA), and also the TRANSJUS Legal Research Institute, the Barcelona Economics Analysis Team (BEAT) and the UB Chair on Energy Sustainability (IEB-UB).
