Bayside's $4.6 million COVID-19 response

Council is providing a COVID-19 support package of more than $4.6 million to assist the community to recover over the 2019/20 and 2020/21 budget years. This is made up of support assistance, fee waivers, refunds and grants for reactivation activities.

Council continued to provide a full range of essential services throughout the period of COVID-19 restrictions. Up to 60 staff were redeployed to assist in delivering essential services and supporting the transition to operating in a virtual environment.

Cr Evans paid tribute to the efforts of Council staff, and in particular Community Care Workers, who had offered outstanding support to their clients during the pandemic.

"Our care workers are Council's frontline heroes. When many of us were staying home to stay safe they continued to be out and about visiting client's homes providing essential personal care, support and a human connection to many of our communities most vulnerable residents throughout the lockdown period," he said.

Council staff supported the community in various ways throughout the height of the pandemic and continue to do so as restrictions ease. The wide range of assistance and initiatives provided by Council throughout the pandemic includes:
