Blinken Discusses with Italy's Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Tajani

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani. The Secretary underscored the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and preventing the escalation of the conflict. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister reiterated stalwart support for Ukraine in 2024 as it continues to combat Russia's war of aggression and committed to working together to address global challenges as Italy assumes the presidency of the G7 in 2024. They discussed the importance of collective multilateral action to address threats to global interests posed by Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and also reaffirmed the importance of the Multinational Security Support mission to stabilize the security situation and create conditions for a return to democracy in Haiti.
