Broome Charter Flight Incident - Charges

Broome Police attended Broome Airport yesterday (7 September 2022) in response to an alleged incident on a charter plane which was transporting three detainees to Perth.

A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody as a result of the incident.

This boy was being transported to Perth after appearing in Broome Children's Court on 6 September, in relation to an incident in Broome earlier this week, in which it is alleged a stolen Nissan Pathfinder was driven recklessly and dangerously within the Broome community.

Broome Detectives conducted inquiries into the incident on the charter plane and as a result, the 17-year-boy has been charged with:-

• One count of Acts with Intent to Prejudice Safe Use of Aircraft and,

• One count of Assault Public Officer.

The boy will now be conveyed to Perth by the Department of Justice.
