"Catalonia's Veterinary Heritage" on exhibit

Recovering the historical memory of veterinary medicine represents reencountering our past and valuing its professional heritage, respecting it and learning from its experiences, and facing the future that awaits us with more security. This is what the Catalan Association of Veterinary Medicine History (ACHV) is dedicated to: safeguarding ancient tools and documents so that the public can have access to them.

Thanks to a collaboration with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the association has been able to organise different activities centred on recovering the historical memory of Catalonia's veterinary heritage. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine would like to highlight 12 important veterinary medicine figures from Catalonia which can be viewed at the faculty's library [https://achv.wordpress.com/2021/10/03/12-figures-de-la-veterinaria-catalana/], as well as the current exhibition on "Patrimoni Veterinari Català", which can be visited since 25 October in the UAB Library of Veterinary Medicine.

Tools used in veterinary practices around Catalonia, received as private donations, alongside an exhibition of monographs by the main veterinary doctors of the country, offer a view of this heritage the association intends to preserve, distribute and aid in its study and research for future generations. The exhibition includes three books from the 18th century recently donated to the association by the family of veterinarian Victor Cabré Cedó (1873-1927), born in the town of Tivissa.
