CCTV vision and COMFIT released after kidnapping of man - Strike Force Cain

Investigators have released CCTV vision of two men, and a COMFIT image of a third, as investigations continue into the alleged kidnapping of another man from Sydney's Lower North Shore earlier this year.

About 8pm on Wednesday 14 April 2021, a 50-year-old man was allegedly confronted by a 46-year-old man near the intersection of Parraween and Winnie Streets at Cremorne.

A short time later the pair were approached by two other men who allegedly forced the older man into a vehicle.

He was then driven to a property at Bringelly, where the two men, plus another unknown man, allegedly assaulted the 50-year-old man and threatened him with a firearm.

About an hour later, the man was driven to the Belmore area and released.

The incident was reported to officers from North Shore Police Area Command on Tuesday 20 April 2021.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad were notified and subsequently commenced an investigation under Strike Force Cain.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives, with assistance from Raptor Squad and the Public Order and Riot Squad, arrested four men – aged 27, 29, 42 and 46 – on Wednesday 5 May 2021.

All four were charged over their alleged involvement in the incident and remain before the courts.

As investigations continue, Strike Force Cain detectives have released CCTV of two men they believe may be able to assist with ongoing inquiries.

The first man depicted in the CCTV is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 20 and 25, about 180cm–190cm tall, with a solid build, brown eyes, dark shaved hair in a ponytail and a tattoo on his right hand.

The second man depicted in the CCTV is described as being Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 20 and 25, about 175cm–185cm tall, with a solid build, brown eyes, short dark hair and stubble.

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have also released a COMFIT image of a third man who may be able to assist with investigations.

The man depicted in the COMFIT image is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, aged 25-35, of solid build, with short dark coloured thinning hair and a brown and red coloured beard. The man was seen driving a white Toyota Camry with a rideshare sticker on the rear. He is believed to frequent the Ryde area.

Investigations by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad are continuing.
