End-to-end solution development

Today, Heath MacDonald, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, announced total federal contribution of nearly $2 million to CMP for the creation of its new Innovation Center. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, and the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.

ACOA is providing $702,750 toward the project through its Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program, while the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) is providing CMP with advisory services and up to $1,283,999 in research and development funding to support innovations in food processing and full line optimization.

The Province of P.E.I. is also contributing $150,000 through Innovation PEI.

This investment will help CMP establish its Innovation Center for the development and testing of energy efficient hygienic food processing equipment. The facility will allow the manufacturer to further develop and expand the company's highly specialized and customized product offerings. It will also showcase the company's capabilities to new customers from around the globe. The project will create an estimated 33 jobs.

Today's announcement demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to help key industries make advancements that will grow the economy and create highly skilled, well-paying jobs for Canadians.
