Mr Cain is an experienced and highly qualified local government executive, having spent 15 years as CEO of the City of Cockburn, and most recently at the City of Canning as Interim CEO and Director of Corporate and Commercial.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the appointment was the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the City.

"Stephen Cain is an accomplished CEO with a clear and demonstrated passion for local government, with broader experience in senior leadership roles with the State and Federal governments and the private sector," he said.

"His experience leading the City of Cockburn during a period of significant growth and investment and his proven track record of delivering key Council and community outcomes are just some of the many key strengths he brings to our City.

"Council is looking forward to working with Stephen to ensure the City continues to deliver strong leadership, build sustainable local communities to improve quality of life, and keep strengthening investment in our local economy."

Mr Cain said it was a privilege to be selected as the next City of Swan CEO.

"I am looking forward to continuing my local government career at the City of Swan, which services such a unique and diverse community," he said.

"I am keen to support the City's renewed focus on environmental sustainability and engagement with the community, while addressing the ongoing pressures of huge population growth.

"As I step into the CEO role, my focus will be to listen to Council's priorities, learn from my new colleagues in the administration and work closely with our community and stakeholders along the way."

Stephen will commence at the City of Swan on December 5, 2022.
