Corangamite Shire has welcomed a $1.187 million grant from the Victorian Government for upgrades to Hampden Specialist School and Terang College.

Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney announced the funding during Wednesday's visit to the Hampden Specialist School in Terang.

The grant will enable both the Hampden Specialist School P-4 Campus and the Terang College P-4 College campus at 6655 Princes Highway, Terang to relocate to the Terang College 5-12 Campus at 45 Strong Street, Terang.

Chief Executive Andrew Mason welcomed the funding and said the project had been a community priority for some time.

"It is great news and I congratulate everyone involved in making this vision a reality," Mr Mason said.

"A lot of work has gone into project planning and advocating for funding."

He said the campus upgrade at 45 Strong Street would benefit teachers and the school community, especially the students.

"It makes a lot of sense that a single, modern school campus in Terang is the best place for children to learn and be supported."
