Countries to discuss scaling up sustainable transport connectivity at upcoming regional Ministerial Conference

The COVID-19 pandemic created a significant shock to global and regional transport systems, while magnifying the underlying shortages and connectivity gaps. Ministers, senior policy makers and various key stakeholders will convene next week to discuss strategies for scaling up sustainable transport initiatives in Asia and the Pacific, as well as a new regional action programme for sustainable transport development in Asia and the Pacific (2022 - 2026).

Hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the fourth Ministerial Conference on Transport will take place from 14 to 17 December 2021. Among others, the Conference will review pathways towards efficient and resilient transport and logistics networks and systems, digitalization of transport, environmentally sustainable transport systems, urban transport, legal frameworks for multimodal transport, and safe and inclusive transport and mobility.
