Northern Territory Police have charged a man with illicit substance and firearm offences in Knuckey Lagoon yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon, Detectives from the Serious Crime Section and the Dog Operations Unit, arrested a 33-year-old male after conducting a traffic stop near the entrance of the Peter McAulay Centre. Detectives located two prohibited Glock gel blasters and cash. While Drug Detection Dog Rafa, located a quantity of methamphetamine.
The male was charged with:
- Fail to obey direction
- Drive speed dangerous
- Possess prohibited weapon x 2
- Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug (traffickable)
- Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug and
- Driver with prohibited drug in body
He was remanded in custody, to appear in court today.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant said "Illicit substances cause substantial harm to the Darwin community and police will continue to disrupt their supply and distribution.
"Of additional concern, as seen in images of the seized weapons, imitation firearms are indistinguishable from the real thing causing significant fear within the community.
"Police would remind the public, whether they come into your possession for recreational or profit reasons, all versions are prohibited firearms."
