Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Springvale South this evening.
Investigators believe a motorcycle carrying a pillion passenger was travelling along Heatherton Road about 5.30pm when it collided with a car.
The rider of the motorcycle, believed to be a man in his 20s, died at the scene.
The pillion passenger, believed to be a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, is currently assisting police with their enquires.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are attending the scene.
