Recovery Coordinators have been appointed by the NSW Government to manage clean up and repair efforts following significant flooding across the State.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said Mel Gore will oversee efforts for the North Coast and North West, Ken Harrison will oversee efforts for the Central West and Donna Argus will oversee efforts for the Riverina, Murray and Murrumbidgee.
"These appointments will help ensure the transition from response to recovery is timely and effective, to give flood-affected communities across the State the support they need," Ms Cooke said.
Ms Cooke said the flooding has been widespread and slow moving, but as waters begin to recede rapid damage assessments will ramp up.
"It has been an incredible effort by all our emergency services personnel and volunteers, led by the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), in responding to the flooding which has impacted almost every river catchment west of the Great Dividing Range," Ms Cooke said.
"As the waters slowly recede our first priority is to undertake rapid damage assessments of flooded homes and businesses so that they can begin the mammoth task of cleaning up."
As at 28 October, 2,389 homes and businesses across NSW have been assessed, with 1,008 recorded as damaged and 163 deemed not habitable.
Recovery Assistance Points, which provide face-to-face access to a range of Government services, support and advice, will also be opened in the coming days and weeks.
There are now 55 local government areas across NSW subject to a natural disaster declaration resulting from the recent severe weather and flooding.
