Forte Decides On Project Grants To 19 KI Researchers

Forte's annual call for project grants will contribute to increased knowledge in Forte's areas of health, working life and welfare. Of the 74 approved projects in 2025, 19 are run by researchers at Karolinska Institutet, who will receive just over SEK 86.3 million.

Forte, the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare, funds research that strengthens public health and welfare. The project grant is one of Forte's largest investments and gives researchers the opportunity to conduct long-term and innovative research that will contribute to societal benefit in the short or long term. A total of around SEK 345 million will be allocated for the years 2026-2028.

Of this year's 1,054 applications, 74 projects received funding, which corresponds to a 7.4 percent approval rate. Of these projects, 19 are run by researchers at Karolinska Institutet.

In total, KI will receive more than SEK 86.3 million in this year's call, which marks a significant investment in research that combines medicine, social sciences and technology.
