The City has called on Gold Coast pooch parents today for the chance to make history and wag their way into the record books!
Mayor Tom Tate said to celebrate the beginning of the annual Go Gold Coast Month on 1 July the City would showcase one of the many free activities available by attempting an unofficial dog yoga (Doga) world record.
While the Gold Coast fell short this time around, over 100 people and their dogs enjoyed a morning of Doga at Kurrawa Park staying active and connecting with the community.
"Today's event was a bit of fun and helped us launch Go Gold Coast Month which encourages everyone to get active while showcasing sport, fitness, recreation and wellbeing."
Go Gold Coast Month will feature a wide range of sport, fitness and wellness activities for all ages and abilities including dog yoga.
There will also be free social sports across the city like skateboarding, baseball, golf, mountain biking and rock climbing plus an array of sport themed library activities.
Feature events include the City's first Festival of Skateboarding, Trec for Rec 6 years to Go event and the annual Fitness Festival at Coolangatta.
The largest recorded Doga class belongs to Edmonton in Canada where 408 people and their dogs participated at the same time in the same location in 2019.
The half-hour class was hosted by a trained instructor from She's Spicy Pilates.
