Great Aussie BBQ Survey Results

During December 2018, leading BBQ Retailer, BBQ Spit Rotisseries conducted the Great Aussie BBQ survey to gain an insight into the habits of Australians who barbecue at least once a month. Close to 2,457 Aussies participated in the survey answering a total of 30 questions about their BBQ habits and preferences.

We were surprised to find that over 50% of respondents owned 3 BBQ's or more, with 20% owning 5 or more. It was no surprise given the steady rise in popularity of 'American Style' barbecuing that 53% of respondents preferred smoking or low & slow style of barbecuing whereas 22% still enjoyed the traditional grill method. Heatbeads topped the list as the most favourite brand of fuel and Butchers are preferred over Supermarkets for meat purchases.
Charcoal fueled BBQ's are gaining immense popularity among consumers due to the distinct flavour they add to the food. Beef was the preferred protein for the BBQ, followed by Pork and Lamb.
