Griffith has performed well in two global young university rankings released within hours of each other.
In the Times Higher Education Young University 2020 rankings, the University moved up five places from 35th and is now ranked 30th in the world.
Griffith also climbed four places in the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking from 37th in 2019 to 33rd place.
Griffith Vice Chancellor and President Professor Carolyn Evans said in challenging times, it was wonderful reassuring to see the University recognised globally.
"I'm pleased to see Griffith improve its standing in both THE and QS young university rankings, especially at a time when universities are facing unprecedented conditions as a result of the pandemic," Professor Evans said.
"This result demonstrates that Griffith continues to grow as a University and is highly respected by its global peers as a progressive university dedicated to learning, leadership, research and innovation."
Ben Sowter, Director of Research at QS said reputations, resources, and world-class outcomes were typically built over time.
"In the higher education sector, the period over which some institutions have been able to do so has been one of centuries," he said.
"We are therefore keen to illuminate the outstanding achievements made by universities that have not enjoyed the same historical advantages as their competitors."
The release of rankings comes as Griffith prepares to return to campuses after transitioning to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The University will progressively ramp up on-campus teaching and learning activities from the start of Trimester 2, Monday July 13, in line with government and health guidelines.
Students will also have the flexibility to continue their studies online for the remainder of the trimester, should they wish.
