Seniors and Ageing Minister Don Punch has officially opened Have a Go Day for 2022.
Organised by the Seniors Recreation Council with support from the McGowan Government, Have a Go Day is always a highlight of the Seniors Week calendar.
Each year around 15,000 people attend the event at Burswood Park, which has been described as 'the Royal Show for Seniors'.
This year there will be more than 200 information and activity sites, including 'hot hula' fitness classes, dance performances, games of walking football and seated volleyball, cooking demonstrations and language lessons.
There are also dozens of booths offering information on health, lifestyle and technology.
The event is designed to remind Seniors of the importance of exercise, staying social, and keeping both physically and mentally activity.
Have a Go Day started in 1991 at Taylor Reserve in South Perth, moved to McCallum Park the following year and then to Burswood Park where it's been held for the past 30 years.
As stated by Seniors and Ageing Minister Don Punch:
"Have a Go Day is a fantastic opportunity to be active and engaged in the community - regardless of your age.
"I thoroughly enjoyed attending my first Have a Go Day last year. Seeing the huge variety of activities on offer and meeting the Seniors taking part were real highlights.
"As Minister for Seniors and Ageing, I'm committed to raising the profile of older Western Australians and Have a Go Day is a great example of that.
"I congratulate the Seniors Recreation Council of WA on this great event and also give a big 'shout out' to the many volunteers who make the day possible."
