HK AI Center Highlights Innovations at InnoEX 2026

The Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center (HKGAI), a joint-university collaborative venture, led by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with multiple universities, showcasing seven of its self-developed AI applications at the "InnoEX 2026". The public is cordially invited to act as "AI Test Officers" to experience practical features tailored to the daily needs of Hong Kong citizens, fully supporting the HKSAR Government's "AI+" and "AI training for All" strategies.

With funding from the HKSAR government's InnoHK initiative, HKGAI launched Hong Kong's first locally developed large language model, HKGAI V1, last year, and has since independently developed multiple AI applications for various scenarios. Among them is "HKChat," an AI assistant positioned as a "AI Buddy for Hong Kong Citizens," which has garnered over 720,000 registered downloads since its launch last November. At this year's InnoEX, HKGAI is introducing a range of new features to the public for the first time, inviting citizens to be the first to try them out:

• "School Selection" Guide: Addressing local parents' need for education information, this feature provides precise primary and secondary school matching alongside comprehensive data analysis.

• "Money-Saving" Strategy: By aggregating city-wide consumer intelligence in real-time, it offers citizens credit card discounts and actionable money-saving strategies.

• "AI Horse Racing": Utilizing AI technology to promote Hong Kong's unique horse racing sports culture, this feature invites citizens to test its cultural guided tours and information accuracy on-site (strictly for cultural promotion, containing no gambling elements).

The smart office applications launched by HKGAI last year - "HKPilot" and "HKMeet"-have also been comprehensively upgraded into an integrated document and meeting series. The trilingual writing and proofreading functions of HKPilot are now perfectly and seamlessly combined with the trilingual mixed voice transcription capabilities of the smart meeting record assistant, HKMeet. Citizens can experience firsthand at the venue how this new generation of integrated applications can significantly boost daily work productivity.

The rise and development of AI Agents have attracted public attention. HKGAI's AI Agent R&D project, "ClawNet," is also making its public debut at InnoEX. On-site AI agent security defense tests are provided to verify that the AI executes tasks under strict "personal authorization," ensuring governability and effectively mitigating data leakage risks.

Furthermore, HKGAI is displaying several professional-grade AI applications at its booth: covering "HKEcoLink," which combines AIGC to support environmental monitoring; "LexiHK," which provides efficient and compliant legal Q&A; and "Hum2Song," which features robust AI content generation capabilities, comprehensively expanding its technologies into professional and musical creative domains.

Prof. Yike Guo, Provost of HKUST and Director of HKGAI, stated: "The true value of artificial intelligence lies in effectively improving citizens' quality of life. Rooted in HKUST and Hong Kong, HKGAI deeply cultivates the local language, culture, and citizens' needs, developing a series of AI applications that truly 'speak Hong Kong's language and know Hong Kong's affairs.' At InnoEX, we are showcasing multiple self-developed AI applications that start from the life and work scenarios of Hong Kong citizens, aiming to create AI tools that belong to Hong Kong citizens and propel Hong Kong towards becoming a smart city. We will continue to actively respond to and implement the nation's '15th Five-Year Plan' and the HKSAR Government's policy of deepening 'AI+' applications, democratizing technology to benefit the public and assisting Hong Kong in becoming an international innovation and technology hub."

Organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the InnoEX 2026 is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from April 13 to 16. Interested parties are invited to visit booth 3C-E21 to experience HKGAI's innovations and technologies.
