Hold a sale or shop trail this weekend in Australia's largest garage sale

Give your old items new life and help divert thousands of kilos from landfill. Register now for this year's national Garage Sale Trail.

"The ACT Government is encouraging Canberrans to join thousands of Australians in the country's biggest weekend of garage sales on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2020," said ACT NoWaste A/g Executive Branch Manager Anthony Haraldson.

"We're calling out to the Canberra community to come together and choose to reuse the good, the old, and the quirky for the benefit of our environment and our pockets.

"The Garage Sale Trail is a great way to sell unwanted items or pick up second-hand bargains and rescue valuable resources from landfill. Residents can host a sale themselves or attend face-to-face or online sales.

"To host a garage sale, register online for free. You will receive tips and resources to host a COVID-19 safe and environmentally sustainable sale. This includes markers to maintain physical distancing for face to face sales and how-to videos to host a live online sale.

"If you are looking for a bargain, shop the trail, get onto www.garagesaletrail.com.au to find garage sales near you or look for online options."

Mr Haraldson said the event continues to grow in popularity in the Territory as last year's event saw a whopping 300 garage sales across the ACT, with approximately 8,000 bargains snapped up and 58,000 kg of items diverted from landfill and re-homed.

"If vendors still have items unsold after the event, visit GIVIT (www.givit.org.au) who can assist in donating your items and help others in need," said Mr Haraldson.
