On May 5, 2026, in the city of Aktau, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in co-operation with the Association of Taxi Parks and Courier Services of the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the support of the Committee of Administrative Police of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conducted a one-day training seminar for drivers and couriers aimed at developing skills in gender-sensitive communication with female passengers. The training seminar brought together 30 drivers and couriers representing various taxi companies and platforms such as Yandex Go, inDrive, Glovo, Wolt, and others.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Aizhan Koshkinbai, Inspector of the Department for Combating Domestic Violence of the Committee of Administrative Police of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The programme included thematic sessions dedicated to gender ethics and the prevention of harassment, as well as promoting a culture of respectful and safe behavior during rides. Experts, including gender researcher and lecturer at Maqsut Narikbayev University Aigerim Kussaiynkyzy and public figure and human rights expert Aitbek Amangeldi, presented practical examples and recommendations, followed by an open dialogue where participants discussed key issues.
The initiative aimed to promote a culture of zero tolerance toward discrimination and harassment, in line with the Concept of Family and Gender Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030, as well as OSCE commitments on gender equality and non-discrimination, including the OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality (2004).
The training seminar contributed to creating safer public spaces and strengthening trust between drivers and passengers in Aktau.
