Implementation of Defence Industry Skilling and STEM Strategy Commences

The Australian Government today announced additional grant funding of $1.4 million has been awarded for the Schools Pathways Program for the 2019-20 financial year as a first step to implementing the Defence Industry Skilling and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strategy.

The Schools Pathways Program informs young Australians about the varied pathways and career opportunities within the defence industry sector.

Minister for Defence Industry, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC, said the Program supported the national effort to improve the take-up of STEM studies and careers at participating schools.

"Supporting key objectives of the Defence Industry Skilling and STEM Strategy, the Program continues to improve access to information about defence industry and encourage student engagement in STEM," Minister Reynolds said.

"The Program supports the Government's commitment to investing in the future defence industry workforce and building a robust, resilient and internationally competitive Australian defence industrial base.
