Thursday 26 May marks National Sorry Day - a day we acknowledge members of the Stolen Generation and their suffering.
To recognise the day, we will be hosting a Sorry Day Ceremony at the Knox Civic Centre from 10:00am - 1:00pm. The event will include a traditional Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony, traditional dance and music performances and most importantly, we'll hear first-hand from renowned guest speaker, Rueben Berg.
We encourage the community to join us as we learn from Rueben and educate ourselves on the grief of the Stolen Generations - still felt by many across Knox today. The day additionally marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week, occurring each year from 27 May - 3 June.

While Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week are important steps in healing local members of the Stolen Generations, it is paramount we are making progress outside of significant cultural dates, also.
Using the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Needs Analysis recommendations received in 2021, Knox continues to prioritise this portfolio of work all-year round, through five strategic focus areas:
