Liberal Division And Disunity Explodes… Again

SA Gov

The South Australian Liberal Party has once again descended into chaos, with firebrand Senator and Party Presidential candidate Alex Antic declaring some members of his own party are "maladjusted weirdos" and behaving like "crying schoolchildren".

Just weeks after the Liberals suffered their worst electoral defeat on record, finishing fourth in more than a dozen seats, Senator Antic yesterday confirmed to The Advertiser he wants to take over as President of the South Australian Liberals.

In doing so, Senator Antic launched an extraordinary broadside at factional rivals, declaring moderate rivals who leaked his candidacy, telling The Advertiser:

"I have signalled my intention to stand for the position of president of the Liberal Party later this year via an email to supporters. Predictably, elements of the left faction of our party (many of whom still behave like crying schoolchildren) react by sobbing to the mainstream media.

"If people are in any doubt why the Liberal Party is struggling in the polls, they should reflect on the effects of our ranks being populated by these maladjusted weirdos."

As put by Blair Boyer

This is extraordinary. The South Australian Liberals have learned nothing.

Voters overwhelmingly rejected the Liberals' shambolic ill-discipline, disunity, infighting, and lack of policy. And how do they react? By doubling down.

There are only four moderate Liberals left in the House of Assembly after the election – and Alex Antic has determined his party is best served by launching an all-out attack on them.

Is Alex Antic accusing Ashton Hurn and Jack Batty of behaving like school children? Or is he saying Josh Teague and Tim Whetstone are maladjusted weirdos?

Voters deserve better from a party that claims to be an Opposition.
