Logan City Council is reminding pool owners to take a few simple steps to make things safer this summer.
Residents are being encouraged to check their pools and be aware of safety laws before the swimming season begins, to reduce drowning and water-related incidents.
Mayor Jon Raven said as the weather warms up, now is the time for pool owners to make sure their pool areas are safe.
"We know plenty of people will be spending time around pools over the coming months," Mayor Raven said.
"A quick check of your fence, gates and pool area might seem like a small thing, but it could make all the difference when it comes to keeping kids safe around water."
Mayor Raven said pool safety was a shared responsibility for everyone who owns, manages or visits a pool.
"Pool safety isn't about ticking a box. It's about protecting our kids. Taking a few minutes to check your pool area now could prevent an accident later."
Property owners are encouraged to complete a safety check and ensure their pool barriers, gates and signage meet current requirements.

Pool safety inspectors can also be engaged for a fee to carry out pool fence inspections to ensure they comply with the safety standards.
