Penrith City Council has unveiled the new-look Londonderry Park, delivering a significant upgrade for the Londonderry community.
The upgrade includes resurfaced tennis courts with new fencing and an expanded playspace area with a range of equipment for all ages. Dalmarri Indigenous artwork is reflected throughout the park, adding a unique local identity to the space.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the upgrade marks an exciting milestone for the Londonderry community.
"The upgraded playspace gives the community a vibrant new area where families and children of all ages can play, explore and enjoy.
"By relocating the playspace closer to the tennis courts and the established tree canopy, Londonderry Park has become a more accessible, connected and enjoyable space for everyone."
New play features include a double-bay swing set, multi-level play tower, inclusive rocker, multi-user spinner, boulder climbing feature for older children and a junior play unit with water play elements. Partial fencing has been installed around the playspace.
Additional improvements include the installation of a new shade sail, new seating and picnic shelter, accessible pathways throughout the park and a new drinking fountain.
This project was funded by Penrith City Council ($630,000) in association with the NSW Government ($100,000).
NSW Deputy Premier and Member for Londonderry Prue Car said high-quality facilities play a vital role in growing communities.
"As our community continues to grow, it is essential we invest in facilities for local families.
"Upgrades like this at Londonderry Park ensure residents of all ages have access to modern, welcoming spaces right on their doorstep."
