Madagascar: Ambassador For Day Competition 2024

On Friday 8 March 2024, to mark International Women's Day, the British Embassy in Antananarivo, together with a growing number of international partners including the Embassies of France, Germany and the United States and the Delegation of the European Union, are excited to launch the 2024 Ambassador for a Day competition in Madagascar.

This competition invites girls aged between 14 and 18 years of old to apply for an exciting and potentially life-changing opportunity.

Winners will have the chance to see first-hand what life is as senior leader, by spending a day shadowing an Ambassador in Antananarivo as well as benefiting from a day of leadership training.

The competition, first held in Madagascar in 2022, aims to:

* give girls an insight into leadership, diplomacy and encourage them to be interested and active in issues that affect their communities, their country and the world

* support the leadership potential and develop the confidence of young women, regardless of background

British Ambassador to Madagascar, Mr David Ashley said:

I am delighted that this year we are going to give more girls in Madagascar a chance to see what it is like to be an Ambassador and, through the process, to gain experience, skills and confidence. Thank you to my fellow Ambassadors for joining this initiative. We hope we will receive many competition entries.
