Man Charged Over Strathfield Station Assault: NSW Police

A man has been charged over an alleged assault at a train station in Sydney's Inner West last week.

Around 4pm on Friday (22 September 2023), emergency services were called to Strathfield Railway Station following reports of an assault.

Police will allege in court that a 66-year-old man approached a 79-year-old man before punching and kicking him.

The 79-year-old man was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Concord Hospital. He has since been released.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 66-year-old at a home in Homebush West about 7am today (Wednesday 27 September 2023).

He was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 5 October 2023.
